What Exactly is Reiki?

What exactly is Reiki? I’ve been asked this question countless times. Reiki is a Japanese tradition of energy healing which is used to channel the universal life force energy through the crown chakra. Then this energy is administered through the practitioners hands over the clients energy fields. Reiki invites the client’s chakras to open and balance, nothing is ever forced.

When I received Reiki training I was taught symbols that help me channel specific types of energy with focused intention. Personally, I’ve felt this type of Reiki energy coming through me before I was taught these Reiki energy symbols. That being said, going through the initiation process has helped fine tune my healing abilities by giving me something concrete to focus on while I’m channeling the healing energy, thus amplifying my belief in myself as well as the power I’m drawing upon. I’m 100% certain that every single one of us has the ability to heal using this life force energy. The only difference between a Reiki Master, for example, and somebody that has no experience intentionally healing with this life force energy is their level of awareness.

Reiki sessions can invoke a deep spiritual oneness with all things, it can help remove emotional blockages, or it can just be a very relaxing meditative experience. What Reiki will never do is hurt anyone. This is just not possible because the source of Reiki is unconditional love energy, which I’m sure we all agree, could never cause harm.

I believe that why my massage technique is so effective at healing people on a deep emotional and spiritual level is because Reiki energy is being infused throughout the massage regardless of my conscious intention. Utilizing this healing energy is way of life for me, it's a part of who I am, and I feel so blessed to have a career that allows me to use my creative side in crafting the powers of Reiki and massage together into a mind-body-spirit healing experience.
