Focus On The Good
Happy Thanksgiving week, The holiday season is back!
Many of you are excited and filled with anticipation, while others of you are dreading the obligations and unwanted encounters of tomorrow.
My challenge to you this Thanksgiving is to embrace the holiday and the day's events, or the lack thereof, with an open heart And curious mind towards finding enjoyment in whatever IS.
If you are alone, find the joy in that. Bask in the quietness, and savor the peace, because not everybody has that this time of year.
If you are with family who you dread being around, or maybe it’s all the work you’re doing that you’re dreading, take a step back from that feeling of anxiety and dread to ask yourself what you would enjoy about this day if that dread weren’t here? Then purposely focus on that. Take responsibility for how you feel and create your feelings by choosing to focus on what IS pleasing.
If you are excited and looking forward to your holiday either because you are blissfully alone or because you're spending it with great people you enjoy, first of all, that’s awesome, secondly, relax into that enjoyment and allow yourself to be who you are without trying too hard.
Let’s all allow ourselves to be our authentic selves.
Allow yourself to do what you want to do.
Cook turkey if you want to, don’t if you don’t.
Have a big party if that feels fun, don’t do that if it feels dreadful!
Engage with the people that make you feel good, avoid engaging with those who don’t… without apology!
Set yourself up for a successful holiday and remember that success here is measured by how you feel on the inside. Nothing and nobody else’s opinions here matter!
I wish you all a fabulous Thanksgiving, increased self love, self appreciation, and an elevated mindset throughout the rest of the year!
